Coordinate systems, degrees of freedom, and motion analysis
Tire mechanics: tire forces, slip angle, and traction limits
Longitudinal vs lateral dynamics overview
Basics of performance metrics (acceleration, braking distance, top speed)
Week 2: Ride, Handling & Stability
Suspension geometry: camber, caster, toe, kingpin, roll center
Ride comfort fundamentals: sprung vs unsprung mass, damping characteristics
Vehicle handling: understeer, oversteer, neutral steer behavior
Stability concepts: yaw rate, sideslip, rollover thresholds
Introduction to model-based analysis using MATLAB/Simulink or similar tools
Week 3: Powertrain & Aerodynamics
Engine, transmission, and driveline fundamentals (ICE, EV, hybrid)
Performance calculations: tractive effort, acceleration modeling, gear ratios
Aerodynamics basics: drag, lift, downforce, and CFD introduction
Rolling resistance, weight distribution, and center of gravity effects
Thermal management overview for powertrain performance
Week 4: Performance Simulation & Internship Tasks
Lap-time simulation basics and vehicle modeling workflows
Braking system performance: brake force distribution, fade, ABS logic
Data acquisition fundamentals: sensors, telemetry, and CAN analysis
Benchmarking performance using real-world datasets
Internship tasks: simulation assignments, performance analysis, documentation
Weeks 5–8: Final Project + Evaluation
Full vehicle model building: longitudinal + lateral + vertical dynamics
Simulation-based performance optimization (ride, handling, braking, aero)
Real-world case studies (Formula Student, Baja, EV performance tuning)
Project presentation: results, graphs, and engineering justification
Viva + final certification
