Lithium-ion battery chemistry basics & cell parameters (SoC, SoH, C-rate)
Understanding battery datasheets & interpreting key specifications
Overview of safety hazards: thermal runaway, overcharge/over-discharge
Basics of electrical schematics & modeling tools (MATLAB/Simulink intro)
Week 2: BMS Hardware Subsystems
Voltage, current, and temperature sensing circuits & placement design
Protection mechanisms: OVP, UVP, OCP, SCP, and thermal protection
Comparison of passive vs active balancing hardware
Battery module architecture, wiring harness, cell tap connections
Basics of PCB layout considerations for BMS hardware
Week 3: BMS Software & Control Algorithms
SoC estimation techniques: Coulomb Counting, OCV, Kalman Filters
SoH evaluation: capacity fade, internal resistance modeling
SoP (State of Power) limits & safe operating envelopes
Balancing algorithms: passive vs active control logic
Fault detection, diagnostics, and event logging workflows
Week 4: BMS Integration & Internship Tasks
MCU selection & communication protocols (CAN, LIN, UART)
Integrating sensing hardware with software control layers
HIL (Hardware-in-the-Loop) testing basics and validation methods
Functional testing for charge/discharge cycles & fault simulation
Weeks 5–8: Final Project + Evaluation
Designing a complete module-level BMS architecture
Developing sensing layout + balancing strategy
Simulation tasks: SoC modeling, thermal analysis, charge–discharge curves
Preparing full engineering report + block diagrams + algorithm flows
Final presentation and certificate issuance
